Targeting RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the Assembly elections in Bihar are a contest between “double yuvraj” and the development ushered in by the NDA’s “double engine” dispensation. He also touched upon the Ram Temple issue, Article 370 and the Citizenship Amendment Act.
Modi addressed rallies in Chapra, Samastipur, Bagaha and Motihari on the last day of campaigning for the second phase of polling.
“On one hand, there is progress ushered in by a government fired by a double engine. On the other hand, the double-double yuvraj are only fighting to save their thrones,” he said at Chapra.
At the Samastipur rally, where he shared the stage with Chief Minister and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar, he asked, “What have the family parties given you? They only give tickets to family members. Have you ever seen Nitish-ji’s family members get a ticket to Rajya Sabha?”
His address at each rally carried an appeal to the women voters. In Chapra, he said mothers in Bihar should not worry as their “son” in Delhi will ensure kitchen fires keep burning despite the pandemic. In Motihari, he touched upon the NDA government’s initiative to build toilets. At the Bagaha rally, he spoke about the Union government’s Ujjwala scheme which he said provided free LPG cylinders to 4 lakh women.
Referring to the Centre’s moves on Article 370 and the Citizenship Amendment Act, he said, “They have been peddling one lie after another with an innocent face. They said Jammu and Kashmir will be on fire with the scrapping of Article 370, rivers of blood will flow. The people there are heaving a sigh of relief and looking forward to progress unhindered by rampant corruption.”

“They similarly said that many Indians will lose their citizenship on account of the Citizenship Amendment Act. One year has passed and not a single person has met such a fate,” he added.
At the rally in Bagaha in West Champaran, he credited the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government for notifying the Tharu community of Bihar as a tribe. Then, referring to the association between Lord Ram and the tribal community in the Ramayana, he moved on to the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
